Grant Richards, 25, is an award-winning jazz pianist and educator. At the age of eight, Grant began playing piano, and by the time he entered college, he had won four Student Music Awards from Downbeat Magazine and recorded his first album as a leader. In 2009, Grant enrolled at Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition Jimmy Lyons Scholarship. He has since shared the stage with artists Esperanza Spalding, Nancy King, Eddie Gomez, Simon Phillips, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Valerie Simpson. In 2014 and 2015, Grant was a finalist in the American Jazz Pianist Competition — a contest that draws some of the country’s best pianists under the age of 25. Grant recently released his second studio album “Numinous,” and is now living in Tokyo, Japan where he remains active teaching and performing.
